    Description

I'm always looking for details about what the US GI would "store" on, or how they would decorate their helmets. I was recently watching some vintage mission footage of the 173rd Airborne from 1967 and noticed a button attached to several of their helmets and to their jungle jackets.
I also collect advertising items and thought it looked like an Avis rent-a-car button. Sure enough. With a bit more research I discovered that some of the US GIs would slide the tab of the "We Try Harder" metal buttons through one of the foliage slots in the Mitchell pattern helmet covers. Quite a statement :)
Just heard from an awesome Veteran of the 1/77th Armored, the 5th and 101st divisions, he let me know that he wore one of these on his helmet while in Vietnam, Northern I Corps (Quang Tri Province) from 1969 thru 1971. Thanks Gary!!!
This price is for one metal button.
The pictures of the GIs are for reference only. The button pictured is representative of the type and condition you will receive. Some look a bit battle worn and some are really clean. Sorry no preferences.
    Thanks!
