Antique American LaFrance Foamite Leader Line 1"  pipe nozzle w/ 1/4 turn cock  - 3/4" bore. The nozzle is 10" long and weighs in at a hefty 5.5 lbs. This type of nozzle used for a hand pulled foam cart, used around flammable liquids such at refineries or airports.
I purchased this nozzle at an auction along with other firefighting equipment. It was black and had traces of red paint on it. Once I got the black carbon off of the nozzle and was able to to strip the red paint, I found another layer of black carbon under the paint. I ended up having to take a wire brush on a grinder to get down to the brass/ nickle. I really hadn't planned on having to use a brass brush but, it just wasn't going to come clean unless I did. Yes, I tried all ketchup, citric bath and brass cleaner and nothing seemed to work. The nozzle was pretty been up with years of hard use. Once I applied the brass brush, I was able to get down to the brass/Nickle. With so many scratches and small dents, I finally got it back to having some shine and display ready. It is by no means perfect but after 100 plus years, it looks pretty good.
