    Description

1901 Pan American Exposition, Buffalo, NY, Darkness and Dawn Midway Attraction lithograph.  Measures 16 x 12 1/2 matted.  Bottom corner indicates "Dunnavant and Thompson Designers."  The photographer name is Beach 456 Main Street, Buffalo.
Darkness and Dawn was promoted as:
A realistic representation of a departed spirit, whose life on earth has not been exemplary. The visitor witnesses the punishment meted out to scandal-mongers, umbrella borrowers and other offenders. After the seas of fire are passed, beautiful scenes to delight the eye appear, so that the visitor may become accustomed to the more familiar places above ground. “Dawn” appears as a spectacular culmination of superb electrical and scenic effects.
Frederic Thompson was the principal designer of the Pan American Exposition Midway and Jon Dunnavant was the proprietor of the Darkness and Dawn attraction at the exposition, and was also involved in the demolition of several attractions after the conclusion.
    Excellent condition.
