    Description

    1901 & 2001 PAN-AMERICAN EXPOSITION STAMPS
    Beautiful pair of 2 Pan-American Exposition stamps - nearly identical, but the one pictured on the left is an original "poster" stamp from 1901 used to advertise the Expo in Buffalo, NY and the one on the right is an actual U.S. postage stamp issued in 2001 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Expo.  The primary difference is that the 2 small ovals on the left and right of the 1901 stamp show "1901" - on the modern stamp, they show "USA" and "80" (80-cent denomination). Also, on the modern stamp, there is a very tiny "2001" printed at the bottom tip of the stamp. Both stamps are unused - the 1901 stamp has part of a hinge on the back where it had been mounted in an album - the 2001 stamp is in mint condition.
