    Description

    U.S. Army
    M1 Rear Seam Helmet
    and Ground Troop's Type 1 Liner
    Combined weight comes in at 3 pounds 4 ounces
    M1 helmet measures 11" front to back and about 7" high
    Rear seam M1 helmet comes with a canvas snap-on chin strap. Has the heat stamp 4051. The underside shows the hand written letters "GAISER". Comes in good condition and probably better than that. It shows some soiling and wear including scuff marks and scratches. Appears to have never been used in combat. I am unsure of the date but certainly post WW2.
    Type 1 helmet liner shows a sand textured finish. The underside of the liner shows the following stamped information:
    LINER HELMET
    GROUND TROOP'S
    TYPE 1
    NSN 8470-00935-6843
    DLA-100-83-C-425

    It also shows the makers imprint which is difficult for me to make out. It's a circle with three letters above (see my last attached photo).
    The canvas straps show two stamped notations. One is difficult for me to read and the other reads:
    HEADBAND HELMET (remainder is hidden)
    DLA.100-83-C-437 (remainder is hidden)
    8470-00-153-6671 (remainder is hidden)

    Liner comes in used condition showing soiling and wear. The left side is pushed in. The underside shows the hand written letters "STF". The canvas straps are firmly attached. The leather headband is firmly attached and show areas of staining. I see no breaks or cracks. I am unsure of the date.
